Haverhill families,
After nearly 5 years of planning, the Haverhill Public Schools and the City of Haverhill are excited about breaking ground on the new and exciting Dr. Albert B Consentino School. This fantastic new building, co-funded by the Massachusetts School Building Authority and the City of Haverhill, will be completed in 2026, with the demolition of the existing building happening in 2027.
The School Department and City Officials would like to inform our community of the changes you will begin seeing as early as next week. We anticipate the General Contractor will arrive onsite during the week of April 15th. With this arrival, you will see construction trailers, fencing around the construction and staging areas, and landscaping changes (such as trees on the north side of the property being removed). Our contractor is acutely aware of the value of mature trees and has made every effort to keep them; however, in some cases, trees must be removed. Once the project is completed, various species of plants and trees will be planted to provide shade and beautify the area. The construction entrance will be at the school’s north entrance, and all construction traffic will enter/exit through this area. The south entrance (shared with Silver Hill Elementary School) will remain open for use by both schools.
At the start of the school year, the administration at Consentino School implemented a revised traffic pattern in preparation for the anticipated construction. This was completed so there would not be any mid-year changes to our arrival and dismissal procedures. Students and Staff will continue to utilize the same methods that have been in place since September.
