Dear Haverhill Families,

Welcome Back to School! I hope this message finds you all well and ready for the first day of school. To our returning students, welcome back! Your presence and contributions are valued, and we look forward to witnessing your continued achievements. To our new students, we are thrilled to have you join our school community and cannot wait to support you as you begin this exciting chapter.

Our dedicated educators and staff have worked tirelessly over the summer to ensure this academic year has many opportunities for success and personal development. While we continue to navigate the challenges presented by the ever-changing world, I want to reassure you that student/staff safety and well-being remain our top priority. This year we are implementing a new program called the ZPASS. ZPASS is a rider identification program that allows the HPS Transportation Department to identify which students are on the bus and where/when they board and leave the bus. For more information on the ZPASS, visit our website. You can also find the 2023-2024 School Bus list here.

Parents and guardians, your partnership is essential in our student’s educational journey. Your support and involvement play a crucial role in their success, and we encourage you to maintain open communication with teachers and staff and to promote attendance with your child. Attendance matters and makes a significant difference in a student’s educational journey.

This year Haverhill Public Schools will participate in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs. As part of this program, all schools will offer students healthy meals every school day at NO COST. To view breakfast and lunch menus by school, click here.

Summer Reading with Ginny

We hope you enjoyed your summer. One of the highlights at HPS this summer was visiting Mrs. Donahue (Golden Hill), her daughter Mary, a second grader at Bradford Elementary, and their beloved canine Ginny! Ginny kept us all entertained and motivated to read this summer. Ginny even read books on Dog Training. Did you finish your summer reading? If not, here is the 2023 Summer Reading List.

MassHealth Redeterminations

Starting April 1, 2023, MassHealth will begin the eligibility redetermination process, renewing all 2.3M members over the following 12 months. This will generally be the first-time members are at risk of losing their coverage since February 2020. In preparation for this effort, MassHealth has increased staffing significantly to handle a greater volume of calls and applications, improved our systems to automatically renew as many members’ coverage as possible, and is working in close collaboration with health plans, providers, and other stakeholders. Even with this preparation, we understand this may be difficult for members. We’re asking for your support as part of our outreach strategy. Visit their website or contact Tiffany Bell, HPS Family Engagement Nurse, @ tiffany.bell@haverhill-ps.org (APPT ONLY). For Spanish call 978-475-5521, for Portuguese email katia.morris@haverhill-ps.org. For more information or Translations, visit our website.
