Enterovirus D68: In September, Massachusetts began to see cases of the EV D68 virus, a respiratory sickness that can cause mild to severe illness.  Those students with asthma are more at risk for severe illness.  Symptoms may include:

  • Fever
  • Runny nose
  • Sneezing
  • Cough
  • Wheezing
  • Body and muscle aches

There is no vaccine to protect against this virus.

In an effort to protect  students and staff, the district is doing the following to increase awareness of the potential illness and to prevent the spread of this or any other cold/influenza like virus:

  • Staff and student education
  • Encouraging hand washing and use of hand sanitizer
  • Reviewing disinfection procedures with our custodial staff
