Mrs. Johnston’s Biomedical Science classes were visited by Biobus New England on February 13th.  Students were taken on a voyage of discovery with two scientists – invertebrate neuroscientist Alice Chou and paleoclimatologist Bella Duati.  They learned how to focus and use two powerful microscopes to see living protists.  It was fun to watch the various styles of movement of the many creatures.  In addition students had an opportunity to ask the experts about both lab research and field work.  It was a great adventure on a tiny scale!   We are grateful to Biobus for such an exciting and interactive visit!

Middle School History!

Recently, 40 middle school students from Consentino, Hunking, Nettle, and Whittier Middle Schools attended 2-day trainings from the Anne Frank Museum through the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam and the Anne Frank Center at the University of South Carolina. During the training, students learned to become student museum docents (guides) for the Anne Frank: A History for Today exhibit that will travel to each middle school in March and April. We are so proud of these student-leaders who have shown a strong commitment to sharing the lessons of genocide with their peers and the community.

The exhibit will be at Consentino Middle School from March 3-14, Nettle Middle School from March 17-28, Hunking Middle School from March 31-April 11, and Whittier Middle School from April 14-May 2 (school vacation in between).
