Hello Haverhill families,
As we reach the midpoint of the month, I wish everyone in our school community a restful and rejuvenating February Break. Whether you are heading out on a planned adventure, catching up on a favorite hobby, or simply enjoying the luxury of a slow morning at home, this week provides a much-needed pause. This time of year can often feel like a marathon, and taking a moment to breathe and reset is essential for our collective well-being.
Winter has truly arrived in our city, and our beautiful, snowy landscape is a constant reminder of the season’s peak. However, with the picturesque snow comes bitter cold, and we recognize that this time of year can bring significant hardships and struggles to make ends meet as heating costs and winter essentials add up. The Haverhill Community Resource page is a wonderful reflection of how generous and supportive our community truly is. Whether you’re looking for support or are in a position to give back, there is always someone ready to help and always a need that can be filled. Together, we make Haverhill stronger!
As we plan for the 2025–2026 budget year, we continue to face financial challenges. While Chapter 70 funding is increasing, it is growing more slowly, and rising student needs and fixed costs require careful, strategic decisions about how we use our resources.
We want to hear from you — what do you value most in our schools? Your feedback is essential as we balance fiscal responsibility with our commitment to providing the best possible education for all students. We would greatly appreciate it if you would take a moment to complete our brief 2025-2026 Budget Survey.
Before we head off to break, we have a very special milestone to acknowledge! Last week, many of our classrooms celebrated the 100th Day of School. It is incredible to look back at how much our students have grown since September. From mastering new math concepts to building lifelong friendships, these first 100 days have been filled with curiosity and achievement. We are “100 days smarter” and 100% proud of everything our school communities have accomplished so far. You can view the 100 Days Smarter video on our website.
As a reminder, all schools and District offices will be closed on Monday, February 16, 2026, in observance of Presidents’ Day. Schools will remain closed from February 17–20, 2026, for the scheduled break.
Whatever your plans may be, I wish you a safe, healthy, and happy winter break. We look forward to seeing everyone back in our hallways on Monday, February 23.
