Dear John Greenleaf Whittier Families,

We are delighted to announce that Kevin Higginbottom will continue for the 24-25 school year as the interim principal of John Greenleaf Whittier Middle School. We are confident that his leadership and dedication will greatly benefit our school community and allow us the opportunity to give the principal search the attention it deserves.

Mr. Higginbottom brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this role. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Syracuse University, a Master of Education in Science Education from Boston University, and a Certificate of Advanced Educational Specialization in Education Leadership from Boston College.

With nine years of experience as the Supervisor of Science & Technology in the HPS district, Mr. Higginbottom has a proven track record in educational leadership. He also brings eleven years of combined experience as a school leader, having served as an Assistant Principal at North Middlesex Regional High School and as Principal at Reading Memorial High School.

Mr. Higginbottom’s leadership philosophy centers on building relationships and fostering a strong sense of community. He places a high value on communication and visibility within classrooms, promoting student achievement, providing student support, and coaching teachers to excel. One of his specific areas of interest is supporting students during key transitions, whether they are newcomers to our school or graduating and moving on to the next step in their educational journey.

We are excited to see the positive impact Mr. Higginbottom will continue to have on our school. Please join us in welcoming him and supporting his efforts to make John Greenleaf Whittier Middle School an exceptional place for learning and growth.

Sincerely,

Margaret Marotta EdD
