National Breakfast Week!

Haverhill Public Schools Food Service Department is celebrating National Breakfast Week March 7th-11th!

National School Breakfast Week (NSBW) celebrates the importance of a nutritious school breakfast in fueling students for success. This year’s theme, “Take Off with School Breakfast,” is a reminder to students, parents and staff that a healthy school breakfast helps ensure students’ academic success in school so they can “take off” and reach their goals!

In these uncertain times, busy weekday mornings make it even more of a challenge for many families to find time for a healthy breakfast, so it is a great time to try school breakfast!

Studies show that children who eat school breakfast are more likely to:

  • Reach higher levels of achievement in reading and math
  • Score higher on standardized tests
  • Have better concentration and memory
  • Be more alert and maintain a healthy weight

Haverhill is celebrating by offering new breakfast items to students at the High School and Middle Schools this week including chocolate banana oatmeal, smoothies, avocado toast, parfaits and waffles with fresh berries! Students this week who participate in trying a new breakfast item can enter into a raffle to win a prize at these schools too.
