Thanksgiving 2021 – Student and Family Letter

November 24, 2021

Dear HPS Families:

I hope this finds you and your loved ones well. As we approach our Thanksgiving break, I wanted to take a moment to share some thoughts on what I am grateful for this school year.

While we continue to navigate through some of the challenges of the return of all students to full in-person learning, daily I am reminded of the effort put forth by our school community. I am truly grateful to be surrounded by such a wonderful group of caring and thoughtful educators and support staff who absolutely want to see every child succeed. I am thankful for my leadership team and their tireless efforts to keep moving this district forward. I am forever grateful to the partnerships we have with our families and to all of the support given to our students.

COVID-19

It is my hope that everyone enjoys the holiday and is able to spend time with the ones you love. I wanted to share that in recent weeks we are seeing, not just in Haverhill but across the country, an upward trend in cases of COVID-19.  In order to keep our schools open, which is vital for our children’s well-being and education, and avoid a surge in cases due to the holiday gatherings, I urge you to continue to remain vigilant and practice social distancing, washing your hands, wearing masks when necessary and if gathering indoors, improve ventilation by opening windows and doors. We appreciate your commitment to following the basic protocols established to stop the spread.

When our doors reopen on Monday, November 29th we look forward to continuing to build our relationships and creating routines with our students all while we relish watching them flourish to their fullest potential.

During the days ahead, my wish is that you have an opportunity to take a moment to pause, reflect and embrace your time surrounded by those you love. Thank you again for your invaluable support and partnership. I am sending you warm wishes for a safe and peaceful Thanksgiving holiday weekend filled with family, friends, laughter and really good pie.

Warmest Regards,
