4/8/21 HPS Update
Good Day Staff and Families;
I am writing to provide you with an update on the HPS cyber-attack and our plans for school tomorrow. This is an evolving situation. Our IT Department has been working around the clock and we are making progress as expected. This is a slow and tedious process.
We expect that by tomorrow morning all cloud-based systems (phones, School Brains, email, Google platform) will be returned to working order. However, we will NOT have WiFi in the buildings, as such web-based programs including Google will not be accessible from inside the buildings.
As we continue to move forward, we may need to change course and cancel school again tomorrow. However, as of right now the plan for tomorrow Friday is:
Grades PreK – 4 – In-person learning for cohorts A, B, and C. Remote Learning Academy ( RLA) will return to remote instruction.
TEACH and Greenleaf Academy – In-person learning, students enrolled in remote learning will return to remote instruction.
Grades 5 -12 ALL COHORTS will engage in full remote instruction, due to lack of internet connectivity in our buildings, making synchronous learning impossible.
All Teachers teaching remotely will do so off-site.
We ask all PreK – 4 parents to send a note in your child’s backpack tomorrow confirming your contact number and your child’s mode of transportation home. We are asking this out of an abundance of caution, while we will have access to our information systems, that access will be limited and we want to have quick access to any needed information.
Again, this is a working plan which we feel we can successfully execute based on the information we have at the moment. We will confirm the plan later this evening and will discuss the situation further at the school committee meeting at 7:00 PM this evening, which can be viewed on HC Media Channel 9 or the HC Media website.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
