PTO

Agenda

The next PTO meeting for the 2005-2006 School Year will be held
Wednesday, February 8th at 7:00 pm

The PTO raises money to fund student activities, e.g. buses for field trips, field day. Also, the PTO organizes activities for students, families and teachers; e.g. The Giving Tree, book fairs, teachers’ luncheons (and gifts) and the Classroom Support Group.

The 2005-2006 PTO meetings will be held monthly. The date and time of each meeting will be listed below. Meeting dates are also listed on the school’s monthly calendar. Be sure to check our “Stay Informed” link for fundraiser information.

The PTO is in the process of applying for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status from the IRS. What this means is that it will allow us to be considered a separate entity from the city, as we now currently operate under the school's tax-exempt i.d. This benefits us in allowing all fundraising to be tax-exempt and prevents the city from having any control over funds we raise. Please feel free to read the Articles of Association and By Laws.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact Ann Marie Leahy if you have any questions or concerns.

The Literacy Council is comprised of the Walnut Square Staff and Principal and parental support.  The literacy council raises supplemental money for literacy supplies and projects that would be cut due to our budget deficit.  The main purpose of this council is to make sure students receive the materials and books they need in order to increase student achievement in our school.

Some of the activities run by the Literacy Council include, McDonald nights, Pizzeria Uno nights, a Fall Literacy Raffle, which runs in November and a Spring Auction. More information about the Literacy Council can be found on the Literacy Council Fact Sheet.
