Important News and Notes

--Congratulations to our new officers. I am hoping we can all have a chance to serve in a leadership position as Chairperson(s) of committees and fundraisers.

--If you have not picked up your Honors Pass please do so in K13. The new certificates will be ready next week for those who want to pick those up too.

--Please check back here periodically to get information about meetings, service, fundraisers, etc.

--Have a great summer, and I am looking forward to a great year with you all next year. Remember you eight hours of documented service. See right for service opportunities.

--Email me anytime with questions or suggestings/ideas on fundraisers, or if you have any service projects we can share with the group. sfinn@haverhill-ps.org

Fundraising and Fundraising Ideas

--If you have any fundraising or service ideas, please email an officer or send it to me (sfinn@haverhill-ps.org) and I will post your ideas for discussion.

--Here is some information on a fundraising idea for the fall. This will be a joint effort and can be fun and raise some funds for us. The National Honor Society Raffle Calendar (click the link for more information) will be a monthly calendar with daily drawings. We need to go out to the community and get coupons/items/etc DONATED to raffle. Then we need to SELL the calendars. I will design them with the help of the new secretary Marla. I would like to have two co-chairs to help coordinate this with the officers. I was thinking of Brian Staponites and Martyna Przybylowska. If you two are interested, let me know so se can get started; otherwise, I will ask for volunteers.

--I have also put in the date for our Holiday Babysitting in December. I will need chairperson(s) for that project.

--We will look to do a bake sale on Election Day and I need to grab that date fast as it is very popular.

--I would like to do a joint fundraiser or service project with the Student Council and Senior Class and would be looking for chairperson(s) for that project.

Meetings/Important Dates:

--Link to 2007-2008 Meeting Schedule HERE

--Will be posted when the dates are set. We usually meet the first Tuesday of the month with all members (see above).

--I will be meeting with the officers once a month on the second Tusday of the month (or another day if you all want) in either the morning or after school. We will discuss this later.

Service Projects

--Monthly Service Project--Emmaus House Children's Activitiy Day. More on this. You will be assigned a group and that group will plan the event. Please see Mrs. Finn with questions. I hope we can keep up with this and will need different chairperson(s) every month to coordinate. A WONDERFUL CAUSE and LOTS OF FUN!

--If you have any community service or requests from the community please email me so I can post them for other members.

--City Hall Office Worker contact Peggy Twomey at 978-374-2312 (press 5 for voice mail).

--Haverhill Public Schools Even Start Family Literacy Program--2.5 hours a week assisting teachers in an early childhood classroom. Contact Connie Archambault at 978-469-8706

--In the fall we will be volunteering our services to help with the elections. Only those who are 18 can work the polls; however, there is enough work for us all. More later.
